Manchester United Face The Battle Of Extending Idion Ighalo’s Loan As Shanghai Shenhua Expected The Nigerian International Player To Return From Old Trafford.
Man United are reportedly facing the battle to extend Nigerian player, Odion Ighalo’s loan deal as Shanghai Shenhua are expecting Idion Ighalo back from his loan spell at Old Trafford (Manchester United) in time as the new Chinese Super League Season was scheduled to start in July.
Recall in January Nigeria international, Ighalo joined United on a loan deal from Chinese Club Shanghai Shenhua and he has impressed Premier League Club Manchester United, scoring four times in eight appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions.
However, Nigerian Football star, Idion Ighalo’s contract at Old Trafford will expire at the end of May as expected, but the Premier League Season is not to resume until June, if at all, due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Manchester United are keen to extend Ighalo’s loan to cover the end of the Premier League season, the date of which remains unclear amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Manchester United are expected to be keen to extend the Shanghai striker’s stay to cover till the Premier League Season ends, of which the date remains unclear amid Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.
But according to SkySports report earlier, The Chinese Club Shanghai want the 30-year-old Nigerian International to return in time as the Chinese Super League is expected to return in July.
The report had it that the Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua would be prepared to sell the Nigerian player on a permanent deal, but as it stands they value Idion Ighalo upwards of £20m.
The Nigerian Player, Ighalo had been offered a two-year contract extension by the Chinese club Shanghai in March which was said to worth £400,000 per week. His current contract with the club will expire in December 2022, but club want to keep him for at least two years (December 2024).
However, the former Watford player, Ighalo recently revealed that he would love to extend his loan deal with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford. Although it is thought that Newcastle would be interested in the Nigerian if their proposed takeover is completed this summer.
The player revealed last month that “No offer on the table yet” from Old Trafford over his loan deal extension, beyond his current loan spell at Manchester United, despite the club’s manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted that a deal could be made.
The Nigerian striker, Idion Ighalo made an encouraging start to life at the Old Trafford following his surprise Deadline Day move, he scored four  times in his eight appearances prior to the suspension _ of the Premier League.
On the 30th of June this season’s loan deals will expire and if the Premier League returns, the potential for games to spill _over into July could cause issues for about over 163 footballers contracted to Top-Flight clubs.
