Gov. Wike Accuses Buhari Government For Double Standard as FG dragged Rivers state for violating inter-state movement law over Almajiris relocation.

Rivers state Governor, Gov. Nyesom Wike accused President Muhammadu Buhari Government for playing politics with the relocation of Almajiris to their various states in the Northern part of Nigeria.

As Nigeria Governments in many states in are taking the measure to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic. On Tuesday Gov Wike spoke about receiving traditional rulers at the Government house in Port – Harcourt.

He further insisted that to curtail the spread of Coronavirus pandemic in the state it is necessary to shutdown port Harcourt and Obio akpor local government areas.

In his words, he said;

“when they started recolating Almajiris in the Northern Part, the Federal Government said or do nothing about it. Immediately they heard that we have relocated some Almajiris, they came up with the declaration that it is against the inter – state movement. Why this double standard? The governor said.

To ensure that the markets, hotel and beer parlors and other public areas in the state remained lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic in the country the Rivers state Governor, Wike called on the Monarch to set up task forces in different communities in the state.

He also called on the local government area chairmen to help in implementing the directives in their respective areas in the state as to help curtail the spread of the virus.

The Rivers state Governor, Gov Nyesom Wike has Threatened to punish anyone who breach the state’s directives on the use of Protective gears such as Face masks and the closure of markets, churches, beer parlours and other public areas.

Gov. Nyesom Wike added that there will be no place to stay for those coming in to the state if most places like hotels and markets are closed, stating that he is not doing this because he hates anyone but is to ensure the safety of the state and its residents.

He Further stated that, no one will see death and embrace it. as the people can’t kill themselves it is better to maintain social distancing regulations and proper hygiene as the only solution to keeping safe.

In his words, he said;

“As the hotels remain closed, those coming in will have nowhere to stay. When we are safe, we can enjoy what we can. I am not doing this because I hate anyone, but it is for the protection of our people.

“No human being will see death and embrace it. We cannot kill ourselves. The only solution is to ensure social distancing and proper hygiene.”
