Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has nominated eight eminent personalities to constitute the board members, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC.
The names of the nominated board members which would be saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the conduct of elections in local government areas of the state were announced this Tuesday.
The eight-member-board has Barrister Isiaka Olagunju as Chairman while Comrade Adeniyi Afeez, Alhaja Ganiyat Saka, Mr. Olanrewaju Emmanuel, Chief Kunle Agboola, Mr. Remi Ayoade, Mr. Sunday Falana and Mr. Adeojo Elias are members.
In a letter sent to the Oyo state House of Assembly, and read by the speaker of the house, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, Governor Makinde requested the lawmakers to screen and approve the appointment of the OYSIEC board members’ nominees.
In his remark, the speaker, Oyo state house of assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin directed the OYSIEC board members nominees to submit 60 copies of their CVs each to the office of the clerk of the house on or before 5:00 PM on Wednesday and appear for screening on Thursday, 27th August 2020.
In a similar vein, the Oyo state house of assembly has resolved to hold a meeting with security chiefs in the state to find a lasting solution to Herders-Farmers clash in the state.
This came to fore following a matter of urgent public importance presented to the house by the Honorable representing Ogbomoso South state constituency, honorable Sanjo Adedoyin, which frowned at the incessant attacks on Ogbomoso farmers by alleged Bororo herders.
While ruling on the debate, the speaker, of the assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, directed the house committee on security and committee on Agriculture to investigate the incident, meet with security chiefs, and get back to the house within two weeks.
