Governor of Oyo state, His Excellency, Seyi Makinde approves the procurement of 5 new fire trucks and Upgrades fire officers allowances after 61 Years.
Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has approved the procurement of five new fire trucks for the state fire services agency in a bid to effectively tackle human and natural disasters.
The governor has also upgraded and approved hazard allowance, call-duty allowance and uniform allowance of the officers of the state fire service which they have not benefited for 61 years.
The state fire service Director for Admin and supply, Mr Adekunle Abiodun who disclosed this noted that the state government had initiated process to procure the five new fire trucks while plans are already underway to receive about 500 fire kits from the government.
Also speaking, the Deputy Director, Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Moshood Adewuyi, confirmed that the agency had received reports from authorities concerned that there will be incidents of flooding in eleven local government areas of the state and assured the residents concerned not to panic as necessary machinery are in motion to manage the situation.
You would recall that the state government had approved the immediate channelization of rivers that are flood-prone and replace undersized bridges and culverts where needed; with highly capacious ultramodern hydraulic structures put in place in 17 different locations of the state to avert the predicted flooding.
